Hebrew

Etymology

From Proto-Semitic *ʾanāku. Compare Akkadian 𒀀𒈾𒆪 (anāku, I) and Phoenician 𐤀𐤍𐤊 (ʾnk, I), 𐤀𐤍𐤊𐤉 (ʾnky, I). The adjectival and adverbial uses are modern innovations.
