Usage notes

  • Hebrew has two words corresponding to English stop: עצר and הִפְסִיק (hifsík). The former pertains to motion; more explicitly, it means "(intransitive) To halt, to stop moving" or "(transitive) To halt, to stop the motion of". The latter pertains to other actions or events; more explicitly, it means "(transitive) To cease, to desist, to terminate."
