Etymology

Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀉𑀕𑁆𑀕𑁂𑀇 (uggei), from Sanskrit *उद्गाति (udgāti).[1] Cognate with Gujarati ઉગવું (ugvũ), Punjabi اُگّنا (uggnā) / ਉੱਗਣਾ (uggaṇā), Sindhi اُڳڻ / उॻणु (ug̠aṇu).
