Etymology[edit]
From Middle Persian [script needed] (b’hl /bahr/, “portion”) with a common metathesis (as in سرخ (sorx) from Middle Persian [Term?] (/suhr/)). Also retained in the forms بهر (bahr) and بهره (bahra).
