Persian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Middle Persian [Term?] (/dānag/), from Old Persian [Term?], ultimately from a derivative of the root reflected in دانه (dâne, grain, seed). Akin to the Iranian borrowings: Old Armenian դանգ (dang), Old Georgian დანგი (dangi), Classical Syriac ܕܳܢܩܳܐ (dānqā), Arabic دَانَق (dānaq), Ancient Greek δανάκη (danákē).
