From Middle Persian lwcyk'(rōzīg, daily bread, sustenance), from 𐭩𐭥𐭬(rōz [YWM], day). Compare Old Armenian ռոճիկ(ṙočik), Old Georgian როჭი(roč̣i), როჭიკი(roč̣iḳi), Classical Syriac ܪܘܙܝܩܐ(rōzīqā), ܪܙܩܐ(rezqā), Arabic رِزْق(rizq), all Iranian borrowings.
