Etymology[edit]

Denominal origin from سَبُّورَة (sabbūra, slate, board) and مِسْبَار (misbār), مِسْبَر (misbar), سِبَار (sibār, probe). Also possibly cognate to Hebrew ס־ב־ר (s-b-r).
