From Proto-Iranian *-mánts (possessive suffix), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *-mánts, from Proto-Indo-European *-ménts. Cognate with Avestan -𐬨𐬀𐬥𐬝 (-mant̰) and Sanskrit -मत् (-mat).
