Etymology[edit]

Literally, he has neither a female nor a male camel in it. Attributed to a 6th-century conflict in the Arabian peninsula known as the Basus War.

لَا ناقةَ لَهُ فِيهِ وَلَا جَمَلَ (lā nāqata lahu fīhi walā jamala)
