Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Prakrit 𑀮𑀼𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀤𑀺 (lukkadi), a Middle-Indo-Aryan variant of Sanskrit लुप्यते (lúpyatē), from Proto-Indo-European *Hrewp-.

لُکݨا (lukṇā) (intransitive, Gurmukhi spelling ਲੁਕਣਾ)

  1. to hide; go into hiding
  2. to set; disappear; conceal (ie. for the sun to set; sunset etc.)
  3. to steal
