[edit]Inherited from Middle Persian pʾlsyk' (pārsīg, “Persian”) (Pārs [Persia] + suffix -īg; "Persian"), from Old Persian 𐎱𐎠𐎼𐎿 (Pārsa, “Persia”). Compare Old Armenian պարսիկ (parsik).
