Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit *𑀙𑀼𑀝𑁆𑀝𑀤𑀺 (*chuṭṭadi), from Sanskrit *क्षुट्यते (kṣuṭyate),[1][2] from *क्षुट् (kṣuṭ, to release, root).

  1. to be released, discharged
  2. to be missed, left behind
  3. to be given up; to be dismissed, fired
