From ܐܪܒܥܐ ‎(ʾarb(ə)ʿā(ʾ), four, fourth) + ܒ- ‎(b(ə)-, in) + ܫܒܐ ‎(šabbā(ʾ)), absolute singular form of ܫܒܬܐ ‎(šabb(ə)ṯā(ʾ), Saturday, week). Compare Arabic الأرْبَعَاء ‎(al-ʾarbaʿāʾ) and Hebrew יוֹם רְבִיעִי ‎(yôm rəḇîʿî).
