Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from the nominative singular of Sanskrit करिन् (karin), from कर (kara) +‎ -इन् (-in). कर (kara) is from the root कृ (kṛ), while the suffix -इन् (-in) is from Proto-Indo-European *-iHnos.
