Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘎𑘯𑘭 m (kaḷasa), 𑘎𑘯𑘭𑘲 f (kaḷasī), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀓𑀮𑀲 m (kalasa), 𑀓𑀮𑀲𑀺𑀬𑀸 f (kalasiyā), from Sanskrit कलश m (kaláśa), कलशी f (kalaśī). Compare Konkani कळसो (kaḷso), Gujarati કળશ (kaḷśa), કળશો (kaḷśo), Hindustani کَلْسَا (kalsā) / कलसा (kalsā), Odia କଳସ (kaḷasa), Bengali কলস (koloś), Assamese কলহ (koloh).
