Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘐𑘳𑘨𑘿‍𑘮𑘰𑘚 (gur‍hāḍa), from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀕𑀼𑀟𑀕𑀭𑁆𑀳 (*guḍagarha). Cognate with Ahirani गुऱ्हाय (gurhāy).
