[edit]Inherited from Early Assamese ভাল (bhalo), from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀪𑀮𑁆𑀮 (bhalla), from Sanskrit ভল্ল (bhalla, “auspicious”).[1] Cognate with Kamta ভাল (bhal), Sylheti ꠜꠣꠟꠣ (bála), Bengali ভাল (bhalo), Hindustani بھلا / भला (bhalā).
