From Pali buddhamāmaka (Buddha's devotee), from buddha (Buddha, literally enlightened one) + māmaka (one who devotes oneself (to); one who shows affection (towards), literally my; mine), equivalent to Thai พุทธ (pút) +‎ มามกะ.
