Etymology[edit]

From Pali rāmādhipati (literally Overlord Rāma), from rāma (Rāma) + adhipati (literally overlord; high king); or from Sanskrit रमाधिपति (ramādhipati, idem), from राम (rāma) + अधिपति (adhipati); equivalent to Thai ราม (raam) +‎ อธิบดี (à-típ-bɔɔ-dii). Cognate with Khmer រាមាធិបតី (riəmiəthɨptəy).
