อุบลราชธานี
Thai
Etymology
From Pali upala (“lotus”) + rājadhānī (“royal city; capital city; royal residence; etc”, literally “royal abode”), meaning "royal city of Lotus"; equivalent to Thai อุบล (ù-bon) + ราชธานี (râat-chá-taa-nii); after Prince Pathum (1709—1795), the first ruler of this city as a vassal state of Bangkok, whose name, Pathum (ปทุม), means "lotus"; coined by Rama I of Bangkok in 1793.[1]
