Inherited from Proto-Southwestern Tai *klɯəᴬ² (salt), from Proto-Tai *klwɯəᴬ (salt). Cognate with Northern Thai ᨠᩖᩮᩬᩥᩋ, Khün ᨠᩮᩬᩨ, Yong ᨠᩮᩬᩥ, Isan เกือ or เกีย, Lao ເກືອ (kư̄a), ᦵᦂᦲ (k̇oe), Tai Dam ꪹꪀ (kɨa1), Tai Dón ꪀꪷ (kə1), Shan ၵိူဝ် (kǒe), Tai Nüa ᥐᥫ (koe), Phake က︀ိုဝ︀် (küw), Ahom 𑜀𑜢𑜤𑜈𑜫 (küw), Zhuang gyu, Nong Zhuang gow, Zuojiang Zhuang gwe, Tày cưa.
