Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Kartvelian *b(o)rʒ₁-. Cognate with Mingrelian ბურჯ-აფ-ი (burǯ-ap-i, struggle, battle, wrestle) and Svan ლი-ბურჯ-იე̄-ლ (li-burǯ-iē-l, fighting (of bulls); butting with horns).[1][2]
