From ἀνατέλλω (anatéllō, rise, grow up) +‎ (, verbal noun suffix), from ἀνά (aná, up) + τέλλω (téllō, I perform, accomplish, rise), related either to τέλος (télos, accomplishment, fulfillment) or to ἔτλην (étlēn, endure).
