From Old Persian *𐎠𐎼𐎫𐎺𐏀𐎭𐎠 ‎(Ṛtavazdā). Akin to Avestan 𐬀𐬴𐬀𐬎𐬎𐬀𐬰𐬛𐬀𐬵 ‎(Aṣ̌auuazdah-, literally powerful/persevering through truth?) and Old Armenian Արտաւազդ ‎(Artawazd).
