Compound of パンツ (pantsu, underpants) + 一丁(いっちょう) (itchō, one piece), the latter portion in turn from (いち) (ichi, one) + (ちょう) (chō, counter). Compare 一丁(いっちょう) (itchō, (try) one time, adverb).
