    • 1979 January 1, “Nihon no roman to wa nani ka [What is ‘Japanese romance’?]”, in Kokubungaku kaishaku to kanshō [Japanese literature, interpretation and appreciation], volume 44, page 31:
      Kono yō na keikō ga ichijirushii no wa, kinnen, nonfikushon, dokyumentarī mono ga ryūkō shi, ippō de wa, jōhō shōsetsu to shite no fakushon mono ga yomareteiru koto to muen de wa nai.
      This tendency is notable, and not unrelated to the fact that in recent years nonfiction and documentary stories have become popular, while on the other hand news-based novels or faction stories are being read.
    • 2011, Sugaya Mitsuru, Kamen raidā seishunfu [Record of ‘Kamen Rider’ youth]‎[1], page 1368:
      Terebi ya shinbun de haijakku jiken no jōhō o atsume, sore o moto ni sutōrī o kōsei suru no da ga, “jijitsu (fakuto) ni motozuita fikushon” to iu koto de 〈fakushon gekiga〉 to iu kyatchi kopī ga tsukerareta.
      Information about the hijacking was gathered from television or newspaper reports, and the story composed based on it, but the copy put out is “fiction based on truth (fact)” or what is called faction drama.
    • 2015, Matsumura Yūki, Erīto shikuji-Rīman keppūroku shōgeki! [Farcical transcript of elites’ failure with Lehman!]‎[2], page 8:
      Iwaba nonfikushon to fikushon no chūkan, fakushon desu.
      That said, it’s midway between nonfiction and fiction, faction. But after all, the base of it (more than 90%) comes from things that actually happened.
