Can we attest Etymology 2, from English faction#Etymology 2, "a mix of fact and fiction"? I would expect Japanese to render this as something like ファクトション. Cnilep (talk) 05:39, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Cnilep: I see that Daijisen lists both etyms in their entry here at Kotobank. That's probably where I initially got that; in 2011, we didn't have the same approach to references for JA entries. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 17:34, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've found at least one post-2011 usage with just this form, so it is "a thing". Cnilep (talk) 00:24, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Cnilep, Eirikr: Anything else? As it stands, the entry needs two more quotes. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 05:18, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A look at google books:"フィクション" "ファクション" seems to find plenty (4,770 ostensible hits), and most of the ones on the first page are the intended sense (blend of fact + fiction, or rather ファクト (fakuto) + フィクション (fikushon)), but I'm not at all practiced at adding citations. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 17:15, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Done. I was able to track down a couple of them, using Erikr's search and university libraries. Cnilep (talk) 03:07, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
