Etymology
[edit]Compound of 編 (bin, irregular reading; possibly refers to the way the instrument is bound together) + 簓 (ささら, “bamboo whisk or broom”, which this instrument resembles). The sasara changes to zasara as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
