Compound of 鼾 (kutsuchi, “snoring; epilepsy”) + 掻き (kaki, “making something manifest”), the 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “continuative or stem form”) of verb 掻く (kaku, “to scratch; to make manifest”).[1]
