Korean

Etymology

From 계속 (繼續, gyesok, “continuity”) and the native Korean verb 하다 (hada, “to do”).

Pronunciation

  • (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈkje̞(ː)sʰo̞kʰa̠da̠] ~ [ˈke̞(ː)sʰo̞kʰa̠da̠]
  • Phonetic hangul: [(ː)/(ː)]
    • Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
