Etymology[edit]
Sino-Korean word from 望夫石, from 望 (“gaze”) + 夫 (“husband”) + 石 (“rock”).

- Phonetic hangul: [망(ː)부석]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
