Etymology[edit]

From 선택 (選擇, seontaek, “choice”) and the native Korean verb 하다 (hada, “to do”).

Pronunciation[edit]

  • Phonetic hangeul: [(ː)/(ː)]
    • Though still prescriptive in Standard Korean, the great majority of speakers (in both Koreas) no longer distinguish vowel length.
