Etymology

First attested in the Neung'eomgyeong eonhae (楞嚴經諺解 / 능엄경언해), 1461, as Middle Korean  (Yale: cyes). Also recorded in the same book as (jeot) (Yale: cyec). Perhaps from Goguryeo 濟次齊次 (*cec)[1].
