Noun

키읔 (kieuk)

  1. kieuk - the name of the eleventh jamo, (k) in hangul

Usage notes

[edit]

In contemporary Korean, when (k) is placed on the side, it curves as in the example of (ki). This was done in order to make the character look more balanced. However, when (k) is placed on top or bottom, it retains its original look, as in the examples of (ko), (kong), 콜라 (kolla). This rule is also applied to (g).
