[edit]Borrowed from Classical Persian ایمان (īmān), from Arabic إِيمَان (ʔīmān). Cognate with Assamese ঈমান (iman), Odia ଇମାନ (imāna), Maithili इमान (imān), Hindustani ایمان (emān) / ईमान (īmān), Gujarati ઈમાન (īmān), Marathi इमान (imān), Punjabi ਇਮਾਨ (imān), Tamil ஈமான் (īmāṉ).
