Etymology

[edit]

From 膝頭 (“knee”) + suffix , which Bauer (1987) suggests to be derived from an Austro–Tai word for “head” (compare Thai หัว (hǔua), Zhuang gyaeuj, Bouyei jauc, Hlai ghwous). The suffix is also found in 鼻哥 (“nose”).
