Etymology
First attested in the Worin seokbo (月印釋譜 / 월인석보), 1459, as Middle Korean 개 (Yale: nolkay). Also recorded from the same source, Template:Kore (nol-ay). A compound of — (nol-, “to fly”) (Modern 날— (nal-, “to fly”)) + —개 (-kay, inanimate agent suffix).
