From Proto-West Germanic *Tīwas dag (Tuesday, literally Tiw's Day), a Germanic interpretation of Latin dies Martis, itself a translation of Ancient Greek Ἄρεως ἡμέρα (Áreōs hēméra) (interpretatio romana).
