Borrowed from Hindi सरपत (sarpat), from Sanskrit शर (śara, arrow, reed) + पत्त्र (pattra, leaf).

  1. Any of several species of sugarcane or sugarcane-like grasses found in India, of the genera Saccharum and Tripidium.
