Noun
Flügelfenster n (strong, genitive Flügelfensters, plural Flügelfenster)
- casement window (window with hinges on the side, opening inward or outward)
Usage notes
- The word refers to all sorts of casement windows. However, since single-frame casements are the standard in German-speaking Europe, a Flügelfenster is often thought of as being a double-frame or French casement specifically. Sash windows are extremely rare in the region.
