From Ancient Greek Ἀγλαΐα (Aglaḯa, “splendour, beauty”). The youngest of the three Graces, daughter of Zeus and Eurynome, spouse of Hephaestus. It has the same indoeuropean root of γελάω (geláō, “to laugh”).
