نزدیک
Persian
Etymology
From Middle Persian [script needed] (nzdyk' /nazdīk/), from Proto-Iranian *názdyah. One of a few adjectives that has preserved the final -g/k phoneme and did not undergo the regular sound change from Middle Persian to Modern Persian. Others include تاریک (târik, “dark”) and باریک (bârik, “slender”).
