Etymology[edit]

From Latin Achilles (from Ancient Greek Ἀχιλλεύς (Akhilleús)) +‎ -saurus, named by Agustín Martinelli and Ezequiel Vera in 2007 in reference to the Achilles heel, because the diagnostic features were found on the heel.
