I found this list to be relatively useless in its current state because it mixes doubtful/unreliable/stupid information with very valuable information. Could somewhat please separate those entries that are common knowledge to the average English speaker, from the dubious rest? This page seems to lower the standard of reliability for information provided by Wikimedia.

When "whales: school, pod, mob, gam" is listed as collective nouns by the referenced source, which is a link-baiting newsletter by a zoo, I really wonder what qualifies something to be a reference.

How about we just use "The Internet" for all of our references and let Yahoo Answers be our definitive guide.

You need a collective noun for collective nouns (There are many I can think of but I don't know if there is an accepted one) and most programmers I know think that "array" is the best collective noun for programmers rather than an "archive". Unluckypixie Aug 2015
