Haplologized from Beamteter, substantivization of beamtet, past participle of beamten (to put into office), from Amt (office).

Usage notes

  • Beamter is declined like a masculine nominalized adjective. However, the now predominant feminine form is Beamtin, which is declined like a standard feminine noun. The regular feminine Beamte is also correct, though.
