Blend of Bronck + -'s. After immigrant settler Jonas Bronck (1600–1643) of New Netherlands onto the peninsula north of Manhattan Island.
- (region): Originally Bronck's Land, the land in the region settled by Jonas Bronck.
- (river): Originally Bronck's River, a river bordering the region settled by Jonas Bronck.
