Developed in 1944 by American toxicologists John H. Draize and Jacob M. Spines.

Draize test (plural Draize tests)

  1. (toxicology) An acute toxicity test in which a small amount of the test substance is applied to the eye or skin of a restrained, conscious animal (typically an albino rabbit) which is subsequently observed.
