- (Drenthe) Attested as Frederiks Oord in 1846. Compound of Frederik + -s- + oord, named after Frederick of the Netherlands. Compare Boschoord, Wilhelminaoord and Willemsoord.
- (Zuid-Holland) Likely named after Frederiksoord in Drenthe as a reference to land that was hard to work.
