Etymology

From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle High German klīwe, klīe, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old High German klīwa, klīa, klīga. The further origin is unclear. It might stem from Proto-Indo-European *gley- (to smear, to glue) but this is difficult due to semantic reasons.[1]
