Lexington
Appearance
English
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From personal name Leaxa + -ing (“belonging to”) + tun (“settlement”). The town in Massachusetts may have been named after the town of Laxton (formerly spelled Lexington) in Nottinghamshire, or after Robert Sutton, 2nd Baron Lexinton (whose title refers to the same place).[1] The other US towns are named after the town in Massachusetts, the site of an important Revolutionary War battle.
